NETAUDIO BERLIN 2009: concept
From 08th till 11th October netaudio Berlin organizes its second international netaudio festival. The main topic runs parallel to the 20th anniversary of the tear down of the Berlin wall, with the focus on the theme “East meets West “. Increasingly in the last years, especially in the countries of Eastern Europe a netaudio landscape has developed. They draw their charms and powers from the inexpensive possibility of music distribution. That’s why speakers, artists and netlabel heads from Eastern and Western Europe, in addition from the USA, are to be invited to the festival. The festival will take place in “Maria”, a location directly on the former death strip in the district Friedrichshain in Berlin, which possesses international recognition for the annual “Club Transmediale Festival”.
The organisers of the festival in their development of the netaudio landscape want to form Berlin as center of the musical-structural dialogue between East and West. By an integration of the most diverse Netlabels from all parts of Europe, the organisers foresee a large signal effect straight into the countries of Eastern Europe.
This year the festival is supported by the ‘Hauptstadtkulturfonds’ (Capital Culture Funds). The Berliner crew has gained experiences from the preceding festival in 2007 as well as from the experiences of their international partners in London, Moscow, Barcelona and Bologna. The daily schedule will include numerous workshops and discussions with top-class experts, a film program – and as rumor has it – the debut performance of a theatre play with CC music…
Musically the bow does not only stretch itself over the varying kinds of Minimal, Techno and House, but this year also will include Ambient, Noise, Dub, Drum’n'Bass, Pop, TripHop, Dubstep, Breakbeats, Drone, Hip Hop and Techdub – the list of the featured styles is pleasantly broad – only Rock’n'Roll seems not to be able to establish itself in Berlin…
The call for entries runs till the 31st May, which can be accessed via its Website (www.netaudioberlin.de). The lineup and day program will be published at the beginning of June on the netaudio Berlin website.
