After some weeks of preparation, on 14th November the EXPANDING’09 festival was held featuring 12 hours of netaudio activity for artists, fans, journalists, activists and other people interested in free music.

We started in the CCCB center with video projections and presentations of the projects selected after the open call: Pervasive Sound by Edu Comelles, Social networks as collaboration tools by Fernando Fonseca, Interactive Sociogram by Daniel Rojas and Carlos Gutiérrez and Digital Global Radio by Jaime Casas. The audience was very interested and asked lot of questions. After 2 hours we stopped for a small break.
During the break, people were visiting the Netlabels Fair, where many netlabels and organisations were present next to the sound installation by Half-BIT.

After the requested break, we started another round of small presentations by MIGA, Spotifare, La Sopa de Ajo, störung, inoQuo and spaRK, combined with a discussion board about the current situation of netlabels and small digital labels in Spain. Later on, we shifted to the topic “collaborative culture” trying to promote some collaborations between the artists present in the discussion.

The conclusions of our talk can be summed up in three ideas: be professional (whatever you do), the concept behind netlabels should change (because many big labels are now net-labels too) and there should be a platform to help and concentrate projects, promotion and support for netlabels and independent artists who are still unknown and want to collaborate to create music or culture.

Everything at CCCB was recorded and you can find the videos in our website (all in spanish).

Afterwards, we moved to the Zentraus Club where the night program was held: a bit of food and drinks for everybody while networking, meeting new people and looking for collaborations. Later,  music started: Sr.Aye/MIGA live!, bRUNA/spaRK dj and the live-dj set of Sr.Click/inoQuo, with the visuals of CytecK until 3:00am when we had to close doors. During this time, the netaudio fair was also set up in the club and many people not related with the festival could discover about netlabels, netaudio, etc.

Finally, we moved to the private space of the association Riereta (thanks to Sebastián and Charles from audioneto), where we continued with an after-party until very late.

Thanks all for coming and we hope you enjoyed the festival and got something interesting from it, an idea, a collaborative project, new music, new contacts or just 12 hours of enjoyment ;)
